The Red Republican Socialist Liberal...Thing

I read an article last night that brought up some interesting points.  http://www.caintv.com/the-problem-with-the-coke-ad-y.  You can read it, but I will summarize for you as well.  She says that the problem with the Coke commercial is that you don't get to invent your own definition of America.  You also shouldn't be able to call each others "haters" for showing opinions and opposition.....agreed.  Everyone should use their minds and have intelligent conversations, which is why I wrote a blog called "Don't Fight with Stupid People".

Communication

Ok, so I am going to tell you why I am writing about all of this Coke stuff this week.  I saw a post in my newsfeed on Facebook and it said "America the Beautiful sang in different languages don't sit too well with me."  I commented and said "We are a melting pot, silly."  Then as the conversation went on and got more heated and I was not involved, I actually respectively said "I am not meaning to be rude, but maybe you can explain what the issue is because there's clearly a disconnect for me."  I got an answer, I opposed it respectfully, and next thing I knew I saw a separate post where the person wrote about how they aren't racist and you should be able to have opinions and not be called a racist.  No one in that strand called anyone a racist....no one called them racists, but we knew it felt wrong.....just like something didn't sit well with them.  So continuing, my friend posted a link on my page that had listed a bunch of Tweets and Facebook posts that WERE racist.  Calling people "wetbacks" and "niggers" is most definitely racist.  Saying derogatory things about people who want to be a part of our country and you're not drinking Coke because of it.....makes you a Xenophobe and probably a racist.  This WAS all happening.  So anyway, I wrote a blog about hate and how it's unacceptable.  But the link I used, not even thinking about it, was from a guy who clearly doesn't like conservatives.  So then a couple of my readers took offense even though, now I realize, I had not even considered the racists to be of ANY party.  My mind never went there.  I was thinking "This is racist.  This is derogatory" and it didn't cross my mind to wonder what party these people came from because honestly, I don't think like that.  So now, even though I am a registered Republican, I am probably labeled as a Socialist or a Liberal, a Commy.  Just call me Red....I really don't care because you wanna know why?  None of it means anything to me anymore.  I am not conforming to any party of asshats, and that's what they all are if they can't have an intelligent conversation and compromise and listen to each other.

The parties are the problem, and somewhere in them, whether or not we want to admit it IS racism.  I don't know where it is, I don't know who they are, but it's there.

I think it's sad that we have to pick from the lesser of the two evils when neither of them gets the "big picture".  Conservatives don't like being called racists any more than people who simply call the country a melting pot get called a "liberal" and a "socialist" and that they're trying to "redefine the country" and have "no morals" and "stand for nothing". Everyone is ridiculous. Stop fighting and treat each other with respect.

WHO IS AMERICA?

The woman kind of picks at the word "melting pot"; you can go back and read it. She says we were, but we shouldn't melt now, we should rise up and greet the newcomers with a strong sense of who we are.  So wait, who is that again?  Because I see a lot of people who don't like the rest of the world, who don't want to welcome new people and new languages.....like I posted yesterday, stupid people.  We have talked about our country historically and fought this week about who we were when we began, well, here's who we were:

We had an idea.  We had an idea to begin from different cultures. We decided to melt and celebrate that.  We also had slaves and women had no rights.  Which leads me to this....we are a melting pot who welcomes different ideas, different people and we are EVER CHANGING and growing.  We can't cling to one historical idea without noticing that we are fluid and changing just like we can't be fluid and changing and forget about our idea.  We came to escape oppression.....so why do we all feel oppressed?

"Melting pot" was supposed to be beautiful and it never had a time limit on it.  It was never like "We are melting and then we'll be solid and no one else can come."  I am sorry, but if we aren't going to continue to be a melting pot, then I don't know where I am living.  If we are going to outsource all of our business to other countries and then say racist things, then I don't understand who has any room to talk.  If we say "In God We Trust" and we can't agree on the fact that "GOD" means ALL religions and not just one in particular, then I don't know why the hell I am here.  If we can't agree that "separation of church and state" actually means something, then I don't think we have a chance at surviving.  The only way that we can all feasibly do this is to be more accepting of others and their beliefs.  We have to compromise.  But you know, if you truly do that, you end up labeled a "Liberal" or you have "no morals".  Like me.

I will tell you what I am....I am a melting pot.

  1. I believe that Jesus Christ is my savior and he said to LOVE THY NEIGHBOR.
  2. I believe that people should practice whatever religion they choose, so long as they are peaceful and they don't impede on others and their right to practice what THEY believe.
  3. I believe that GOD is our judge, not I am your judge.
  4. I support gay people, people of different races, and genders because GOD will judge them later if he wants.  Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and I REFUSE to be any other way.  I don't support assh****.  Is there a party for those people?  People who don't like assh****?
  5. I believe that everyone is on their own journey and conforming to "ONE WAY" is the surest way to not accomplish that.
  6. I believe that if you follow the money, you follow the real devil.
  7. I believe that you should try to help people instead of judging their mistakes, which is why I have signed up for prison missions (that I still have yet to find time to do.)
  8. I believe that every child has a right to live, but I also don't judge people in bad situations and who have had to make very difficult decisions because our world sucks at showing compassion for women, unmarried with children, on welfare, without fathers.  I believe that if people wouldn't isolate and label people as basically "immoral trash", they wouldn't be so afraid to ask for help in those situations.  I believe that our society is so backwards, people are screaming for compassion and love and God and the "Religious" and the "Political Activists" aren't listening.
  9. I believe that none of this will be accomplished by the forcing of anyone's beliefs down anyone's throats, but rather, to offer love and to accept every single person on this planet.
  10. I believe that all of this demands a huge heart for others who may make me uncomfortable, sad, or unraveled, because it is unraveling for me to look at how sad people are and what they have been through.  But this is called compassion and it's the ONLY WAY you can show them a better way.  If I am cruel to someone, I have lost the ability to talk to them, and that is because THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE IS LOVE.  I have a huge heart and I am accepting of tattooed people, black people, Mexicans, unwed mothers, someone who has had an abortion, atheists.....nothing is wrong with me because of this.  I do have a strong core of beliefs, and that's to be loving.

Those are my beliefs.  I clearly don't belong to a party, and I am proud of that because they are a mess and they are RUINING this country.  Stop fighting and listen.  Stop judging and love another.  Stop saying hateful things and put yourselves in that person's shoes,  as Karl Marx says, "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."  It's just a symptom of something else really oppressing us....

One last thing, please read the comments below the lady's article.  Therein lies the problem.  She is on Cain's website, she states that she is a "Conservative" and below are her supporters who use the word "Wetbacks".  If you are going to be part of a party, call people out in your own party and say "that is not what we stand for" because I will tell you, I am seriously confused.
